Mary Medina — Reading Specialist &

My 25+ Years in Education

Hello, I’m Mary Medina, a dedicated and compassionate certified teacher with a wealth of experience spanning over 25 years. My journey as an educator has led me to become a Reading Specialist and Dyslexia Testing Specialist, and I am wholeheartedly committed to guiding students on their path to becoming accomplished readers.

My Passion for Teaching Children to Read

My passion for teaching stems from the profound joy I find in helping students unlock the world of reading. I’ve had the privilege of witnessing countless students break through barriers and achieve success in their reading journeys. It’s these moments of transformation that continue to inspire and motivate me in my work.

My Personal Experience

Beyond my role as an educator, I’m also a wife and a mother of three wonderful children, including special needs little ones. This aspect of my life has provided me with unique insights and a deep understanding of the diverse needs and challenges that children and families can face. It reinforces my belief in the power of education to make a difference in every child’s life.

Services

Online Reading Tutoring – $75/week (2 classes)

Our research-based, multisensory reading curriculum is designed for struggling, dyslexic and emerging readers.

Our program is an Orton Gillingham and research based, multisensory, direct, explicit and comprehensive reading program.

I offer two 30 minute classes twice weekly for $75 a week (4 weeks a month – typically 8 sessions monthly).

Dyslexia Screening – $372 per screening

Mary Medina will personally screen your child (or yourself) for dyslexia. This comprehensive screening includes 11 different screening tasks, a detailed report, the severity level, and recommendations for next steps.

FAQs

Dyslexia Screener

Is my child too young to be screened?

Screenings can be completed for children 6 years old and older. There is no maximum age.

How long will the screening take?

Screenings takes on average 30-45 minutes. The duration of your student’s screening will be dependent on the number and duration of breaks they will need. Mary adjusts the screening duration to the needs of the student to achieve optimal results.

Can I give the screening results to my school?

You may present this report to your child’s school. The screening done by Mary Medina will determine whether or not the child fits the dyslexia profile. However, the results of this screening alone will not qualify them for special education services. An intelligence test will not be administered in this screening, which is required for a formal diagnosis of reading disorder or a learning disability.

When will I know the results?

Mary will tell you immediately after the screening if your child does or does not fit the dyslexia profile. Once she has analyzed the results of each of the screening tasks, she will tell you the severity of the dyslexia, if it is present. You will receive the full report within two (2) weeks of the screening.

Online Reading Lessons

How often will classes meet?

We will meet two (2) times per week for 30 minutes each class.

How much are the reading classes?

$75 a week for two (2) online lessons

How many students are in each class?

There are one to three (1-3) students per class.

Is there a discount for siblings?

Yes, siblings will receive a 10% discount on their reading classes
